We know choosing a safe and nurturing learning space is important to you. It is to us too!
Our Philosophy
Our Early Learning Approach
We believe in balancing both play-based learning and structured academic activities. Children love to explore and develop their curiosity. They also benefit from consistent routines and being introduced to school readiness skills such as writing, letter recognition and phonics.
We want to offer the best of both worlds:
Freedom to Play + Learning Foundational Skills
Social & Emotional Skills
The early years are crucial for developing some of the most important skills of all: social and emotional intelligence. We make it a foundation of our teaching style and curriculum to help children learn about their emotions and healthy ways to express them.
Encouraging amazing friendships and empathy at a young age is what we love to do every day!
We always want every child to feel included and celebrated for their uniqueness.
Our Daily Themes - Unique to only Dharma Kids
-
Monday: International Day
We choose a new country every week where kids get to learn about a different culture and two words (hello & thank you) in a new language.
-
Tuesday: Food Day
Kids get to learn about healthy foods. We choose a different fruit or vegetable each week and talk about the benefits of eating it.
-
Wednesday: Plant Day
Building on Food Day, we talk about how to grow the fruit or vegetable of the week. Depending on the season, we also incorporate gardening activities to grow our own food.
-
Thursday: Animal Day
We learn about the national animal of the same country chosen on Monday. Kids get to expand their creativity through fun animal arts & crafts.
-
Friday: Me Day
A day of favourites! We ask a different question each week like what’s your favourite ice cream so kids get to know themselves and their peers. We also do show & tell where children can bring a special item from home.
Our Values
We believe that our teachers are important role models for the kids. To create a consistent and vibrant energy at our centre, all of our teachers live by these three core values:
-
We create an inclusive, welcoming and happy environment where every child can thrive.
-
We support kids to discover who they are and learn about the world around them.
-
We encourage kids to appreciate themselves, other people, their bodies and the Earth.
